HISTORY

Xien Xan is the son of the evil Shiwan Xan, leader of the World Crime League. Since he was a child, Xien trained as his father's successor, until at age 16 he witnessed his father's cruelty firsthand. After that he dedicated himself to ending Shiwan Xan's reign of terror. Eventually, alongside members of the Hong Kong Cavaliers, Xien raided the citadel of his father on the island nation of Sabah. Shiwan Xan was killed during the battle, though the other leaders managed to cover up this fact from the authorities. Nevertheless, Xien knew his father was gone and relocated to Superior City to begin a new life. Changing his name to Peter Lao to hide is true identity, he also chose to act the part of defender, using his mutant powers and martial arts abilities to defend his new home's Chinatown as the Yellow Flame. Xien's would occasionally cross paths with other heroes while in action as Yellow Flame, including the New Enforcers of Justice.

Xien eventually learned of a plot to resurrect his father and, determined to stop it, found himself fighting alongside the Enforcers as the World Crime League's actions led to an all-out Gang War between organized crime factions in Superior City. In the end they stopped the Gang War but were unable to prevent the resurrection and the restored Shiwan Xan resumed leadership of the World Crime League. During the adventure, Xien and Enforcers member Manticore learned that the latter was also a son of Shiwan Xan and the two have now joined forces to stop their father and destroy the World Crime League once and for all.

POWERS & WEAPONS

The evil Shiwan Xan chose to father children with women specially selected to produce offspring that were genetically superior or would have metahuman potential. As such from birth it was inevitable that Xien would be exceptional. To ensure this Shiwan Xan had his priests perform mystic rituals on Xien when the boy was still a small child. The result was the emergence of Xien's metahuman powers. Thanks to this the Yellow Flame possesses superhuman strength and resistance to injury. Xien was also trained in the martial arts from a young age, becoming a master of multiple styles of Kung Fu and other schools.

Xien uses his strength to propel himself great distances by leaping, but with concentration Xien can also fly for short periods of time. The Yellow Flame's other major power is the ability to blend into his surroundings so completely as to be virtually invisible to all but the most dedicated and skilled observers.
