Ens. Jomar Avila was a technician who worked on the setup of the Federation Embassy on the Na-Zek homeworld. He was telepathically manipulated by a Kzinti operative into attempting to assassinate Ambassador Sh'Rassa and was murdered by the operative to cover up the Kzinti involvement.
Ens. Eric Chandler is a power systems specialist serving in Engineering. He was part of the repair team sent aboard the Bajoran pilgrim vessel. Chandler was part of the engineering team sent over to a Bajoran pilgrim ship to assist with repairs. Chandler was shot when the Bajorans were revealed to be hostile, but the weapon was set to stun so he recovered quickly.
Ens. Shryra Theless is a repair technician and warp engines specialist. She was part of the engineering team sent over to a Bajoran pilgrim ship to assist with repairs and helped take control of the ship when the Bajorans were revealed to be part of a militant religious sect. At the Academy, Shryra took several elective courses in Xenohistory, including some taught by Capt. Mitchell's father. For this reason she was part of the Away Team that studied the Preserver Obelisk on the Aduan Moon. Ens. Thelles was later part of an away team investigating an infestation of spider-like creatures on a newly discovered planet.
Ens. Evan Garrett is a security officer who participated in the first Away Team investigating a derelict Ferengi vessel. Garret was mortally injured by an attack by spider-like creatures but was revived by Lt. JG Tradis. He recovered from the injuries and resumed his duties. Garrett later led an investigation into the sabotage of the Melbourne by members of a militant Bajoran religious sect. Ens. Garrett was at tactical when the ship was investigating an infestation of the same creatures from the Ferengi vessel on another planet.
Ens. Haral is an Orion security officer. He assisted in tracking a Kzinti operative who had attempted to assassinate Federation Ambassador Sh'Rassa. He was later seen at Tactical when the USS Melbourne was investigating the Karishi homeworld. Ens. Haral was part of an Away Team on the planet Antara where he was badly injured by the silicon spiders of the K'thon. Haral has shown familiarity with the methods of Orion pirates, but the source of this familiarity is presently unknown.
Ens. Alexander Selani was a security officer who was part of the second Away Team investigating a derelict Ferengi vessel. He was killed by the spider-like creatures infesting the vessel, becoming the first member of the USS Melbourne crew to die in the line of duty.
Ens. Ryan Williams is a security officer who was part of the Away Team on board the shuttlecraft Bolton when it crashed while investigating the Karishi homeworld. He was safely beamed back to the USS Melbourne with the rest of the Away Team.
Ens. Veronica St. Cyr is a security officer who was on security detail during the Pax Alpha diplomatic summit aboard the USS Melbourne.
Ens. Keldan is a Kelpien science officer who was on the bridge of the USS Melbourne during the investigation of the Karishi homeworld. He later helped analyze the infestation of spider creatures on another planet. Keldan was at the Science station on the bridge when the USS Melbourne first encountered the K'thon mothership.
Lizig is the sole survivor of a derelict Ferengi vessel. Rescued by the USS Melbourne, Lizig has a prototype neural implant designed by Lt. Stuart to help bypass the neurological damage he suffered in the attack that wiped out the rest of the Ferengi crew. As the only survivor, Lizig is facing persecution by the Ferengi Commerce Authority due to the families of his dead crewmates accusing him of complicity in the incident. To avoid Ferengi debtor's prison, or worse, Lizig requested to remain aboard the Melbourne, offering his services as ship's chef, a request granted by Capt. Mitchell.
