MEMORY ALPHA - THE PAX ALPHA CONFERENCE
The Pax Alpha Conference is a diplomatic summit undertaken by the United Federation of Planets to negotiate peaceful agreements between the various spacefaring powers recently discovered in the Far Cygnus region of the Alpha Quadrant, located spinward of the edge of Federation space.
CONFERENCE PARTICIPANTS
NA-ZEK ALLIANCE
The Na-Zek Alliance is the government of the Na-Zek people, a felinoid species originating in the Alpha Quadrant almost 5,000 light years spinward of the core of Federation Space. The Na-Zek control an area of space approximately 100 light years across, centered around their homeworld of Ravaya.
ADUAN FIRMAMENT
The Aduan are descended from Neanderthals relocated from Earth to the planet Atrathis by the Preservers over 50,000 years ago. The Aduan have had warp travel for about two centuries and have established a dozen interstellar colonies.
KARISHI DIASPORA
The Karishi people controlled a small sector of space that contained seven worlds, including their homeworld Risholm, linked by a form of limited warp travel referred to as the Karishi Circuit or the Loop. Risholm and the other worlds of the Loop were destroyed by an unknown attacker approximately 20 years ago, with the species only surviving on a handful of newer outlying colony worlds that had not yet joined the Loop. The Karishi are tall grey-skinned humanoids with large eyes and a small nose and mouth. Due to the limited warp travel ability of the Karishi, the Pax Alpha summit is being held in orbit above the colony world of Rishara to facilitate their participation.
XERSIAN FREE PEOPLES
The Xersians are a humanoid species descended from arboreal primates and are slightly shorter than humans. They have large ears and are fairly hairy, with a thin coating of fur over their bodies. The Xersian homeworld was part of the Karishi Circuit and the Xersians generally served as a subject species to the Karishi. Like the Karishi themselves, their homeworld was destroyed and the species only exists in small enclaves on the surviving Karishi colony worlds.
UNITED FEDERATION OF PLANETS
The UFP is hosting the summit aboard the USS Melbourne, supported by the USS Joshua Chang. The Federation delegation is led by the Lady Inanya from Delta IV assisted by Ambassador Sh'Rassa, the Federation ambassador to the Na-Zek.
