The SLV Ulysses was one of the four remaining Daedalus class submersible mecha carriers in service in the Southern Cross Naval Division (Sea Squad). The Daedalus was often used as part of covert operations to transport mecha undetected into danger zones. One such mission was the transport of the 21st A.T.A.C. into the wastelands of India Quadrant for their mission into the Himalayas. The Ulysses was also responsible for sinking the NWO submarine mecha carrier during World War IV.
The Ulysses was mainly on duty in the Indian Ocean during the Second Robotech War. It was damaged during one of the final battles of the war and managed to limp to India Quadrant. When civil unrest erupted across the Quadrant in the aftermath of the war, the hastily repaired Ulysses was able to evacuate many of the surviving Southern Cross soldiers from the region and was able to make it to the underwater Oceanus Base off the coast of Australia where it completed its repairs. Once fully functional again the Ulysses began patrolling the area around the Southern Ocean looking for other Southern Cross survivors. While battling a group of pirates the ship encountered the survivors of the 21st A.T.A.C., who had been based out of New Zealand since the end of the war. The Ulysses established communications between New Zealand and OCeanus, helping create a semi-stable military structure for the Oceania region.
The Ulysses has embarked on a global exploration mission to the major Southern Cross cities and bases in an effort to determine how many survived the Second Robotech War.
