- Name: Victor Chen
- Rank: Private
- Call Sign: 8-Ball
- Date of Birth: Feb 3, 2010
- Place of Birth: North America
- Status: Killed in Action
Personality
Victor is rather aloof, having not formed any lasting friendships since leaving the refugee camps. He tends to be something of a hedonist, trying anything just to see how it feels. Victor also has a taste for blood. He was responsible for the death of his girlfriend as a teenager and, though an accident, he found he liked the feeling this gave him. Uncertainty and guilt over her death and his own feelings caused Victor to flee New York. Since seeing combat, he has grown more accepting of his love for killing and the feelings it gives him. So far the relatively active combat duty he has seen has been enough to sate his desires, but who knows what may happen when the fighting stops.
Biography
Victor is an orphan, he was found as a toddler in the ruins of New York after the Zentraedi attack. He raised in an orphanage like many other children, and developed an obsession with learning his true identity and heritage, something he has never managed to do. When his girlfriend died in a suspicious accident, Victor left the refugee camp he lived in and headed to Monument City, where he joined the Southern Cross.
Once given access to weapons, Victor excelled as he seemed to have found his calling. His fascination with weapons of all kinds led to an accident on his first assignment where a fellow recruit was killed. Imprisoned while the accident was investigated, Victor was befriended by a superior officer who managed to prevent any charges from being laid. Still, Victor was unwelcome in Monument City so he was transferred to the 21st ATAC.
Update: Victor's borderline behavior did little to endear him to his new teammates. He did, however, attract the attention of new squadron member Mark Andrews, who was secretly a GMP spy. Andrews saw Victor as a potential lackey and using his psychology skills began manipulating and molding the impressionable Pvt. Chen. Victor became Andrews' constant companion, a fact that drew taunts from the rest of the squadron, and Victor often helped Andrews out on some of his more secretive endeavors. The relationship was severed when Andrews was recalled by the GMP (though Victor never learned the truth about his "friend"). Victor was killed in action in March 2030 while battling EBSIS forces in Indochina.
Call Sign: Victor has borderline psychopathic tendencies, behavior that his fellow soldiers recognized and they started to refer to him as a candidate for a Section 8 (military discharge due to mental illness). The term gave the number that became part of his call sign.
