Everyone is familiar with the Golden Age of Heroes of the 1930s and 40s, and cannot help but be aware of the current Modern Age of Heroes that began with the debut of Superman over a decade ago; but the intervening years were not without heroes of their own. The generation before Superman's arrival saw a surge in what would be called super heroes and villains, some of whom were part of a legacy from the Golden Age, some who would be the start of a legacy that continues today, and some that were both. This heroic era ended in tragedy and today is mostly a Forgotten Age.
