HERO HIGH (Super Students of Superior City Academy)
HISTORY
Due to the inordinately high number of children developing metahuman powers in
Superior City, various levels of government decided that
it was necessary to provide these children with an environment where they could learn not only the
standard educational curriculum but also learn how to use and control their superhuman abilities.
To that end the Superior City Academy was established
through a public-private partnership and began enrolling students from the Superior City area and beyond.
While the school neither encourages nor discourages the students from using their powers outside
of class several of the students, as well as some of the faculty, had previously established
costumed identities, identities that many of them continue to use today.
Many of the students were involved in helping the rest of the heroes of Superior City thwart the
villain Carnage's attempted
takeover of Superior City.
Established Heroes
The Forty Thieves
A gang of criminal teenage metahumans led by Flare.
New Heroes
Alicia Uchida, secretly the heroine Orchid, is a member of the faculty at the Academy.
Jascen Broden, aka Blur, is one of the more well known teen heroes attending the Academy.
Marilyn Northcliffe is one of the most powerful magicians on the planet, and is also an adolescent student
enrolled at the Academy.
POWERHOUSE
PERSONAL DATA
- Alter Ego: Christopher King
HISTORY
As a teenager in Fairfax, Maine, Chris King came into possession of a magical H-dial that let him turn into a
random new super-hero for one hour when he dialled the letters H-E-R-O. Along with his friend Vicki Grant, who
also had an H-dial, Chris defended Fairfax from a variety of strange threats.
Eventually the H-dial was lost, but Chris found that his body had internalized the power and that he now
would transform into a random super hero every hour, only turning back after he had used up a fixed amount of
energy. Unable to control this power he turned to S.T.A.R. Labs
for help and the scientists there outfitted Chris with a special suit to help him monitor and control his
abilities. During this period Chris had several adventures alongside various incarnations of the Titans.
Eventually Chris learned to control his transformations, able to trigger them voluntarily (though still
subject to energy level limitations). Having earned a Kinesiology degree, Chris has joined the faculty of
Superior City Academy as Phys-Ed instructor as well as an instructor on how to use various super-powers,
something he is well equipped to do given the range of powers he has had experience with and his ability to
transform into superhuman identities with a variety of power sets with which he can challenge and instruct
the students.
POWERS & WEAPONS
When he has sufficient internal energy stored up, Chris can transform himself into a superhuman identity.
These new identities are fully formed, complete with codenames, costumes and a set of super-powers that Chris
instinctively knows how to use. Chris remains in this new form until he has expended a certain amount of energy,
after which he reverts to his normal form and cannot transform again until his energy levels have built up again
(which typically takes an hour or so as long as he is not exerting himself). In all the years of using the
H-dial and his internalized verion of the power Chris has never transformed into the same identity twice.
FLARE
PERSONAL DATA
- Alter Ego: Angelique Marin
HISTORY
Angelique Marin ran away from home as a teenager, traveling to Los Angeles to try and start a career as a model.
While initially successful, and having earned her enough money to start college, Angelique's modelling career
quickly faded out. Desperate for money she answered an ad from the Jensik Medical Institute for volunteers
to take part in experiments. An analysis of Angelique's physiology showed latent metahuman potential, so the
Institute sent Angelique to their black book Cell 13
division.
Cell 13's experiments resulted in an agonizing transformation for Angelique. She endured hours of intense pain
and disfiguring torment as her powers emerged, eventually resulting in a massive explosion that destroyed the
secret lab, killing the scientists who had been experimenting on her and wiping out all records Cell 13 had on
her identity. Having been blown clear of the explosion, Angelique landed in a field where she mercifully fell
unconscious while her powers stabilized, including her regenerative abilities that healed her crippling and
disfiguring injuries over the next few hours.
When Angelique was found the next day unconscious and naked but otherwise apparently physically unharmed, the
authorities wrote it up as a case of attempted sexual assault where the attacker fled without going through with
it. Angelique did nothing to dissuade the authorities of this notion, choosing to keep what had happened to her
a secret.
After learning to control her powers, Angelique elected to use them to earn herself some money. Donning a black
costume and mask she became Flare, and began using her powers to rob from drug dealers and others she felt
deserved it. With the money she was able to complete her degree, majoring in psychology with a minor in education.
Realizing that if she kept using her powers to rob people, even if they were less than savory individuals, she
would eventually come into conflict with super-heroes, Angelique struck on the idea of forming a team. When Angelique
learned about the unusual number of teenagers developing metahuman powers in Superior City she relocated to there,
figuring that younger metahumans unsure of themselves and their new abilities might be easier to convince to join her.
When she learned that Jensik had a major presence in Superior City, Angelique also began to wonder if that was
connected to the surge in metahumans appearing in the city.
Setting up shop in a video arcade in a mall near Knox High School in Superior City, Angelique began recruiting
metahuman teenagers into her new team, dubbing them the Forty Thieves. Her initial group of recruits consisted of
Metal, Psi-Blast,
Dreamer, Glacier, and
Titan. After operating for a short time the group came to the
attention of the demonic Adversary and his
Hell-Raisers. Adversary was also seeking to recruit young metahumans
and targetted the Forty Thieves as potential targets. The two teams had also set their sights on a young metahuman
named Plasma, whose destructive powers were making news as the young man
was headed towards Superior City.
The conflict between the Forty Thieves and the Hell-Raisers brought the heroic
Enforcers of Justice into the battle. For the sake of her
team Flare reluctantly sided with the heroes and together they were able to thwart the Hell-Raisers, though not
before Titan had been seduced into joning with the Adversary. Facing arrest, Flare made plea bargain in exchange
for the kids in the Forty Thieves not getting charged with any crimes. For her part Angelique was forced to give
up her Flare identity.
As a result of the battle, and of other incidents across the country involving juvenile metahumans, the
Superior City Academy was established. As part of her plea bargain with the authorities, Angelique now performs
community service in the form of helping to instruct the young metahuman students at the Academy on how to use
their powers. Under the terms of the agreement this is the only time Angelique is allowed to use her Flare
powers. Despite her initial reluctance, Angelique has begun to care a great deal for her students.
POWERS & WEAPONS
As Flare, Angelique possesses the ability to emit blinding bursts of light and powerful blasts of heat.
She can also fly and has superhuman regenerative abilities that can heal near-lethal injuries in a matter
of hours. With her college degree Angelique is a trained psychologist and educator, skills that helped her
recruit her Forty Thieves and that she now puts to use as an instructor at the Academy.
PSI-BLAST
PERSONAL DATA
HISTORY
A lifelong resident of Superior City, Rick Tarrel developed telepathic powers as a young teenager, probably as a result
of exposure to Cell 13's mutagenic compounds. Rick decided to use his powers to earn money, signing himself and his family
up for game shows and other quiz-style competitions where he could use his powers to cheat and win. Rick earned a reputation
locally as a whiz-kid, and also caught the attention of Flare, who suspected what Rick
was up to. Confronting the teen with her suspicions, Flare made Rick her first recruit into the Forty Thieves.
Under Flare's guidance, Rick used his telepathic abilities to probe the minds of criminals to help Flare determine the
best targets for the team's robberies. He also started using his powers to seek out other teenage metahumans for Flare to
recruit. Equipped with an armored costume for protection, Rick operated with the Forty Thieves under the codename
Psi-Blast. When the team was caught by the Enforcers of Justice, Rick and the others were spared criminal charges by Flare
taking a plea bargain, but in exchange he and the other teenagers were required to enroll at the Superior City Academy.
Psi-Blast has developed a serious crush on Flare, a woman ten years his senior.
POWERS & WEAPONS
Psi-Blast has a potent range of psionic abilities. He is a telepath, able to read the minds of others and communicate
with them telepathically. He can also sense when another psionic is nearby, or when psychic powers have been used recently
in an area. With training, Psi-Blast has also learned to shield himself from other psionic attacks and to project dangerous
blasts of mental energy against a target. Lastly, Rick is also capable of psychometry – the ability to read psychic
impressions by touching an obect, a skill that lets him "see" the recent history of the object, including who
else has touched it and what it was used for.
METAL
PERSONAL DATA
HISTORY
Evan Miller was living the teenage dream – he played in a band and was second-string quarterback on the Knox High
football team, sure to be picked as first string the following year; then his metahuman powers kicked in. His powers initially
started causing appliances around his family home to explode, and when they fully emerged Evan accidentally set fire to his
house. His parents, not realizing it was metahuman powers causing the destruction, thought Evan had done the damage deliberately.
He was sent to counseling and badgered about his alleged anger issues that led to the destruction.
Fed up with this treatment, and afraid of what other damage he might cause, Evan ran away from home and started living on
the streets of Superior City. His powers would still occasionally manifest accidentally and cause damage, the reports of
which attracted the attention of Flare and the Forty Thieves (just Psi-Blast and Titan at the time). Flare recuited Evan and
helped him learn to control his powers. She was even able to arrange for him to be reunited with his family, and though they were
still unaware of exactly had happened to their son they were happy to have him home. Evan was able to return to school and
even rejoined the football team as quarterback, though the mystery of the weeks he spent as a runaway still cast a shadow
over his reputation.
Meanwhile Evan started operating with the Forty Thieves under the codename Metal. After the confrontation with the
Hell-Raisers and the Enforcers of Justice, Evan revealed the truth to his parents. Under Flare's plea bargain, in order to
avoid criminal charges Evan has transferred to Superior City Academy where he can learn more about his powers.
POWERS & WEAPONS
Metal has an unusual magnetic-based power that manifests primarily in sonic phenomena. His powers let him set up vibrations
in the air and in metallic objects to produce a variety of effects. He can project destructive blasts of sound across a wide area,
or if he narrows the focus enough, directed blasts of intense heat. At its most powerful, Metal's magnetic vibrations can have
a disintegration effect on metal. Metal can also use his power as a natural sound amplifier, making it seem like he possesses
superhuman hearing, or allowing him to project his voice like a loudspeaker. With his recent training, Metal has learned how to
channel his magnetic vibrations into a narrow focused area which takes the shape of a sword and that he can use to cut through
objects.
When he was operating with the Forty Thieves as Metal, Evan wore an armored costume for protection and to help conceal his
identity.
DREAMER
PERSONAL DATA
- Alter Ego: Linda Guerrera
HISTORY
Linda Guerrera learned she was a metahuman when her wishes started coming true. Worried about not being able to
afford tickets to an upcoming concert, Linda was shocked when her notebook transformed into a stack of money.
Experimenting further she "wished" her old clothes into turning into the latest expensive styles. Over
time Linda realized she had the power to transform matter, rearranging atomic and molecular structures of objects
to turn one thing into something completely different. She also discovered that her intelligence was increasing
as were her speed and reflexes. When her powers fully manifested Linda was shocked to discover she could also now
read other peoples' thoughts.
While at the mall one day Linda picked up some stray thoughts from Flare, who operated an arcade there, and
learned about the Forty Thieves. Linda confronted Flare (in her secret identity as Angelique Marin). Linda was
indifferent to the actions of the Forty Thieves; she was more concerned with what she had learned from Flare's
mind about the Jensik Medical Institute and how they may be on the lookout for metahuman teenagers in the area.
For Linda, joining the Forty Thieves was a case of safety in numbers; plus she could use their help learning how
to use her powers. She adopted the codename of Dreamer and began accompanying the Forty Thieves on some of their
jobs.
The confrontation with the Hell-Raisers shook Dreamer, making her realize just how many dangerous threats there
were out there facing young metahumans. On the plus side, the plea bargain that spared her and the other Forty
Thieves from criminal charges and required them to attend Superior City Academy has opened up new academic
opportunities for Linda and her now genius-level intelligence.
POWERS & WEAPONS
Dreamer has the power to manipulate matter. She can rearrange the molecular and even atomic structure of
inanimate objects, transforming them into new shapes and functions. In combat she often uses this ability to
target the weapons and gadgets of enemies. Her metahuman abilities have also increased Linda's speed and
reflexes to superhuman levels; she can move, read, think, and perform most other actions close to ten times
faster than a normal human. Her intelligence has also to genius (but not superhuman) levels, and she has
developed the ability to telepathically read another person's thoughts. Early on Dreamer's powers led her
to develope almost a split personality, where she would flip from a typical 14 year-old girl to an almost
sociopathic demeanor. As her powers have matured her personality has begun to stabilize, closer to her old
self but with greater focus and determination than before. Linda has turned this new determination, and her
increased intellect, towards her academic pursuits - with a focus on science and medicine to better understand
her own abilities.
GLACIER
PERSONAL DATA
HISTORY
Maren McCrae's metahuman powers a triggered whenever she is under stress, frightened, or in any other situation
where her heartrate is highly elevated. When this happens she is transformed into an "ice maiden" form
with cold-based powers. The first time this happened was while Maren was out for a run and she thought it was a
hallucination, but the next time it happened while she was kissing her boyfriend and she caused him to suffer
severe frostbite from his contact with her lips. Maren's fundamentalist parents freaked out, believing their
daughter had been possessed by the Devil. The boyfriend's parents pressed charges and Maren's parents did not object
when the police arrested the young girl.
The story made the local news in Superior City and the Jensik Medical Institute, eager to learn if Maren's
powers were a result of the Cell 13 Chimera chemicals, contacted the authorities to offer their expertise and
assistance. Having also learned of Maren from the news, and getting wind of Jensik's involvement, Flare sent the
Forty Thieves to break Maren out of custody before Jensik could get their hands on her.
Maren stayed with Flare and began learning how to use her powers. The others gave her the codename Glacier,
but Maren was not with the Forty Thieves for very long before the group got into the conflict with the
Hell-Raisers that led to the Enforcers of Justice getting involved. Since Maren had not committed any crimes with
the Forty Thieves prior to this point she was not part of the plea bargain Flare made. The Enforcers convinced
Maren's now ex-boyfriend's parents to drop their charges against her and it was arranged for Maren to enroll at the
Superior City Academy.
Maren's parents still will not have anything to do with their "demonic" daughter so Maren lives in one
of the dorms at the Academy while learning how to use and control her powers.
POWERS & WEAPONS
When Glacier transforms her body become a negative heat source, changing into a white-skinned, white-haired,
white-eyed form that begins to absorb all nearby heat. In this form she becomes coated in a thin protective layer
of ice (generated from the moisture in the air) and also develops superhuman strength. With practice, Glacier has
learned to project her heat-draining field at a distance, allowing her to freeze objects without having to come in
physical contact with it. She is now further refining this ability, working on being able to move and shape the ice
constructs she is creating and learning how to throw ice projectiles to strike targets at range.
While she is still working on controlling her transformations into her icy form, Maren is able to change back
to her normal human form from her ice form at will.
PLASMA
PERSONAL DATA
HISTORY
James Raymond (Jamie) Duncan was born in Superior City but moved away with his family over a dozen years ago, when he
was five. A year ago Jamie's metahuman powers first began to manifest. The first time he was alone and outdoors when his
energy powers erupted and set a field on fire. The second time a few months later Jamie was at home, but managed to run
outside and into some nearby woods before he "detonated". No one was hurt but once again the area was set
ablaze, this time starting a small forest fire that threatened some neighbors homes before the fire department was able
to extinguish the blaze.
Jamie kept the incidents a secret, hoping and praying they would stop and his powers would just go away. Unfortunately
for Jamie his powers were starting to trigger with greater frequency. Desperate for any help, Jamie stumbled across the
news reports on Maren McCrae and recognized parallels with what he was going through.
By this time his parents had become suspicious and had begun to link Jamie's short disappearances with the incidents of
destruction happening around town. Believing that Jamie was an arsonist they confronted him, and refused to believe him
when he tried to explain what had really happened.
Worried that his parents would alert the authorities, Jamie ran away and began making his way to Superior City in the
hopes of reaching Maren. Still unable to control his powers Jamie caused more damage as he hitchhiked his way west, and
news reports began to appear about the "dangerous metahuman" they called Plasma, who seemed to be on his way
to Superior City. The reports attracted the attention of both Flare and of the demonic Adversary. Flare and her team, the
Forty Thieves, and the Adversary and his team, the Hell-Raisers, both attempted to locate and recruit Jamie. Caught in the
conflict between the two teams, Jamie nearly lost complete control of his powers but the potentially catastrophic incident
was prevented thanks to the intervention of the Enforcers of Justice.
Jamie has since enrolled at Superior City Academy to help him learn to control his powerful abilities. He is living
on campus while trying to reconnect with his parents.
POWERS & WEAPONS
When Jamie's powers activate, something he is currently trying to learn to control, his body becomes enveloped in an
aura of plasma flame. While this is active Jamie is protected from most physical attacks, and anything that comes into
contact will be burned by the intense heat. Jamie can also throw of bolts of the plasma flame, but this is usually
random. After activation, Jamie's aura will start to build in power until it reaches a critical intensity, at which
point Jamie will "explode", shedding the aura in a burst that sprays the plasma fire across his immediate
area. Once this happens it will be several hours before Jamie's powers can be activated again.
ELECTRIC LIGHTNING
PERSONAL DATA
HISTORY
Kenshiro "Ken" Takahashi is a Japanese exchange student studying in Superior City. Two years earlier
Kenshiro had been caught in a strange electrical storm during an unusually strong meteor shower. Struck by a bolt
of lightning, instead of being killed or injured Kenshiro developed electricity-based metahuman powers. For a
time Kenshiro operated as a part-time super hero around Tokyo under a variety of names while keeping his true
identity secret. When he earned a spot as an exchange student to America, Kenshiro selected Superior City as his
destination to have an opportunity to attend the Superior City Academy.
Soon after arriving Kenshiro, going by the shortened Ken to try and fit in with his new classmates, made plans
to resume his super hero activities in his new home. Inspired by stories of a local Japanese hero, Electric
Samurai (who now goes by the name Neon Samurai), Ken adopted
the super hero codename of Electric Lightning.
As Electric Lightning, Ken was part of the mobilization of young super heroes who participated in support roles
during the Imperiex Conflict. When Carnage launched his attack
against Superior City, Electric Lightning was among many of the Academy students who were in Washington, DC
receiving an award from President Luthor for their actions during the conflict. He and the others then took part in
a rescue operation led by the hero ArcAngel into the captive city and
was part of the assembly of heroes who finally defeated Carnage and freed the city.
POWERS & WEAPONS
Electric Lightning has the ability surround all or part of his body with an aura of electricity. With this aura
active Kenshiro is protected from outside electrical attacks and anyone making physical contact with the aura gets
electrocuted. Kenshiro is also able to throw bolts of electricity like lightning. By subtly manipulating his
aura, Electric Lightning can cling to surfaces using a form of static electrical attraction. This lets him traverse
vertical or even inverted surfaces as easily as walking on the ground.
WONDER BOY
PERSONAL DATA
- Alter Ego: Charles Preston Boyce
HISTORY
Charles' grandfather was a human-looking alien from the planet Viro, which had been destroyed in a stellar catastrophe.
Arriving on Earth in America in the early 1940s, Charles' grandfather decided to help his new home against its enemies
and used his abilities (including superhuman strength) to fight crime and to help combat the Axis forces during World War
II. The alien was dubbed Wonder Boy, and this is the name he chose to go by (his real name remains unknown). After the
war the Wonder Boy continued to fight crime until the 1950s, when movements like McCarthyism led him to retire and adopt
a secret identity. Wonder Boy settled down and married his longtime human girlfriend Sally Benson, continuing to keep his
alien nature hidden from public. Then one day he just disappeared; perhaps he found a way to return to the stars, or maybe
he was captured by a secret government operation that learned of his true identity. The answer to his disappearance remains
unknown to this day.
When Charles' grandfather disappeared his wife Sally was pregnant. She and her father moved to a little town near Superior
City and told everyone that the child’s father had died. Their son grew up in the small town unaware of his alien heritage.
He got a job as a pharmacist and eventually married, living the American dream. He eventually had a son of his own, Charles
Preston Boyce. As a young child Charles appeared perfectly normal and grew up a regular, if somewhat nerdy child. Over time,
however, Charles was slowly being exposed to the Cell 13 mutagens that had been dumped years earlier near his home. When
Charles turned 13 his alien genes were activated and he gained superhuman abilities like his father.
When Charles developed his powers his grandmother revealed the truth of his alien origins to him. She told him all about
his grandfather, and then gave him some of the advanced technological equipment the original Wonder Boy had invented over
the years. With his newfound powers and the inherited technology Charles decided to become the new Wonder Boy. He has since
enrolled at Superior City Academy to learn more about his powers and the gadgets his grandfather left behind.
POWERS & WEAPONS
Charles' part-alien physiology gives him superhuman strength and resilience. With his alien strength he can also run
at nearly 20 miles per hour and leap an eighth of a mile in a single jump. Charles is also highly resistant to injury
and heals much faster than a normal human. Charles can also survive for short periods of time, approximately half an hour,
in hostile environments that would normally be lethal to a person, like underwater or in the vacuum of space.
Charles is still a student, but is very intelligent and had a keen interest in science and engineering even before
learning of his alien heritage. Charles also possesses a photographic memory, but this is a natural talent and not
a benefit of his part-alien physiology.
The BISHOP TWINS
PERSONAL DATA
- Alter Ego: Felicia and Johnny Bishop
HISTORY
Felicia Bishop and her twin brother, Johnny, were born 18 years ago in Superior City. Their father was
never known and their mother, who was quite poor, died when they were 2 years old. The orphans became wards
of the state and were selected by Sector 10
scientists to be guinea pigs in their efforts to create superpowered beings.
For four years they lived in the hidden science complex beneath Pike Island. With no parents the two had
only each other. They grew up under the close observation of impassive scientists, and they were subjected
to countless experiments, many of which were cruel and inhumane. As the final stage of the experiment, all
memories of their lives at Sector 10 were concealed with mental blocks. False memories were implanted within
them, and they were adopted by a couple living in Superior City.
Their stepparents knew of the experiments. They received $50,000 a year to raise the twins and to maintain
the secret of the twins' past lives. As part of the agreement, a scientist posing as the family doctor was
allowed to see the children monthly. If the doctor discovered any signs of developing powers, he was
instructed to inform Sector 10 immediately.
Unfortunately, the scientists had not chosen the children's parents well. By the time the twins were
teenagers, their stepfather had died, but not before gambling and drinking all the money away. Knowing the
children were different, their stepfather had always loathed them, and secretly feared them. Their stepmother
was exactly the opposite. She cared for the twins deeply, but could not support them. Felicia and Johnny were
forced to take to the streets in order to survive. Felicia found employment as a singer in a sleazy night
club. Much to her regret, Johnny joined a gang called the Flashing Blades, and he made money by selling drugs
and stealing cars.
Felicia's powers activated when she became a pawn of the Fearsome
Five while they were working for the World Crime League. She was
brainwashed into becoming a villain named Lady Anguish. Johnny's gang also became involved in the League's
complex scheme and after being exposed to toxic chemicals his own powers were activated.
The activation of their powers caught the attention of Sector 10 who arranged to have the pair both captured.
The twins were rescued by the Enforcers of Justice who arranged for them to be enrolled at Superior City
Academy so they could learn to control their new abilities.
POWERS & WEAPONS
Felicia has developed mental abilities; she can communicate telepathically and can deliver devastating mind
blasts. When Johnny's powers manifested his eyes became crystalline and reflective. Johnny's eyes are constantly
absorbing small amounts of light around him and he can emit this light back from his eyes with a variety of
effects from simple illumination to blinding flashes to focused laser light. His body can also absorb other forms
of energy which he can also emit back from his eyes, though he must do so within a short time of absorbing the
energy or it fades. Due to the nature of their origin the twins are both highly resistant to radiation.
The IRON BRIGADE
PERSONAL DATA
- Alter Egos: Jack Angstrom, Kaitlin Warchowski, Jane Fairweather, Billy Burkett, Jesse Whitehead
HISTORY
In the last few years the Lewiston section have Superior City has seen a rise in UFO sightings and reports of strange
mutant creatures. The earliest appearances of these phenomena also saw the first appearance of a team of power armored
heroes to combat these creatures. These heroes called themselves the Iron Brigade.
In reality the Iron Brigade are five teenagers who all attended Spring Grive High School in Lewiston. Stuck together
in detention one Saturday, the five snuck out and began exploring the deserted high school when they heard what sounded
like an explosion. Investigating the group found the vice principal unconscious and the school shop teacher being
assaulted by a 10' tall lizard creature. Distracting the creature the five teens and the shop teacher, Mr. Wilkerson,
were able to escape, though the creature soon set out to pursue them.
Mr. Wilkerson led the five to a locked toolshed on the school grounds. Once inside he revealed that the shed concealed
an entrance to a hidden underground workshop. It turned out that decades earlier Mr. Wilkerson had been a hero named
Mr. Fix-It, who used hi-tech gadgets to fight crime. Since retiring
and becoming the school shop teacher Mr. Wilkerson had continued to tinker, setting up a secret workshop under the school.
Inside the workshop were a set of five suits of powered armor, a pet project that Mr. Wilkerson had been working on for
years. He was too old to make use of the armor, but the five kids were not. They donned the armor and went out to battle
the creature. The kids were victorious and decided, with Mr. Wilkerson's permission and support, to continue to use the
suits for good.
The appearance of the Iron Brigade in Lewiston seemed to trigger a wave of attacks by what appeared to be aliens and
mutant monsters. In reality these were all the creation of an old enemy of Mr. Fix-It called
Doctor Cobalt. Having finally been released from prison, Cobalt
had decided to track down his old enemy and take his revenge. Using his own genius and super science, Doctor Cobalt
created a series of strange menaces that he sent after the Iron Brigade and Wilkerson. When Cobalt was finally
revealed as the source of all the strange phenomena the Iron Brigade took the battle to him at his secret base in the
Cascade Mountains and defeated the villain for good.
When Superior City Academy opened, Mr. Wilkerson was invited to come there to teach Industrial Arts (the traditional
shop classes as well as more advanced ones for young heroes with a penchant for gadgets). The five members of the Iron
Brigade still attend Spring Grove High School, but they have also started taking some extra classes at the Academy where
Mr. Wilkerson is helping them learn to maintain the Iron Brigade suits.
While the powered suits were almost identical, the five kids have adopted different color schemes for their suits to
distinguish themselves from each other. Jack wears Red armor, Kaitlin chose Blue, Jane went with Yellow, Billy picked
Green, and Jesse the rebel went for Black.
POWERS & WEAPONS
The Iron Brigade suits are advanced modular powered armors that give the wearers enhanced strength and reflexes as well
being equipped with a suite of sensors and force-field reinforced flexible armor plating for defense. The suits have a set
of built-in weapons as well as combat programming to help the wearer on offense and defense, including providing enhanced
hand-to-hand combat abilities. The suits are fitted to the wearer, but are otherwise virtually identical.
For threats that are more than the basic Iron Brigade suits can handle, the team also has access to a set of advanced
flight-capable combat mecha. These are codenamed Hoplite (piloted by Jack), Rolling Thunder (piloted by Kaitlin), Aigis
(piloted by Jane), Warhead (piloted by Billy), and Citadel (piloted by Jesse). These mecha are all heavily armed and
armored, though each has its own distinct combat systems. In extreme measures the five mecha can join together into a
gestalt giant robot called the Iron Brigadier. The Brigadier is only used against the most dangerous opponents that the
Iron Brigade face.
