THE NEW CONGLOMERATE
HISTORY
The New Conglomerate was an incarnation of the corporate-sponsored hero team organizationed and funded by Michael Bennett, CEO of Global Industries. Bennett had the group formed as a rival to the heroes of Justice Inc. because he felt a need for a team that had more concern for corporate interests. Bennett also bore a small grudge against Justice Inc. because of ramifications from some of that team's actions that had impacted some of Global's subsidiaries; and because of the team rebuffing his efforts to act as a sponsor for them. The New Conglomerate roster consisted of veterans of prior incarnations of the team like Templar, Hardline, Echo, and Vapor as well as a newcomer to the team, Tank.
Soon after forming, the Conglomerate found themselves allied with Justice Inc. to combat an extra-dimensional invasion of New York City. The violence and trauma of that conflict led Vapor to again become disillusioned with super-heroics and she resigned from the team to dedicate herself to helping with the recovery and rebuilding of New York after the invasion. Not long after this Michael Bennett joined the team himself, wearing an advanced suit of power armor and adopting the identity of Cyberhawk.
This incarnation of the Conglomerate participated in the Revelations crisis but disbanded not long afterwards. Bennett went on to form a new hero team, J-Force, with several members of the Conglomerate team joining him.
