AMERIFORCE

HISTORY

As part of its erstwhile efforts to "save humanity" the artificial intelligence called OMEGA secretly manipulated several nations to create government-controlled metahuman teams that it would use to form the core of a global metahuman army. In America, the result of OMEGA's manipulations was the creation of the DMR (Department of Metahuman Resources, now the Department of Extranormal Operations) and the public face of the DMR was the super hero team called Ameriforce. The team consisted of a mix of government operatives and civilian heroes:

Ameriforce were based out of the DMR main headquarters in Washington, D.C. but were frequently sent anywhere in the United States where they were needed for a given mission. One notable appearance for the team was when they joined forces with Justice Inc. to defend New York City against the extradimensional invasion by the villainous Overlord.

When OMEGA's schemes were uncovered and the DMR reogranized into the DEO, Ameriforce found itself under more direct government control which in turn led to more politically-motivated missions and this made the civilian members of the team more and more uncomfortable. The final straw was a mission outside of U.S. territory, to an ostensibly allied Central American nation that was under attack by a metahuman villain. The mission brought Ameriforce into conflict with the New Enforcers of Justice and resulted in the exposure of an illegal U.S. government metahuman program. Disgusted, the civilian members of Ameriforce; Pulsar, Atomsmasher, and Starburst; resigned from the team (all three were later recruited as charter members of a new hero team called Justice Force).

With most of its membership gone the American government opted to permanently disband Ameriforce. The two remaining members were given new assignments.

AMERICOMMANDO

PERSONAL DATA

HISTORY

Americommando's true identity is a unknown, deliberately held secret by the US government. What is known is that he was a member of the military and a veteran of at least one foreign conflict when he was selected for the assignment as the Americommando. This unknown soldier was subjected to experimental treatments and intense training before being granted the Americommando identity. The Americommando name was taken from the identity used by Golden Age hero Mr. America (Tex Thompson) when he operated behind enemy lines during the Second World War.

Americommando was placed in charge of the Ameriforce team and he led them through the team's entire existence. Though highly disciplined, the Americommando is not one to blindly follow orders. When details of illegal government programs were discovered during the mission involving the Enforcers of Justice, Americommando allowed the information to be revealed rather than assist in covering it up. He is loyal to the United States, its Constitution and its Laws and will fight to uphold those principles in the face of any orders that he becomes convinced are not of benefit to the nation.

After Ameriforce was disbanded the Americommando was given new assignments. Not all of these are known, but one that is saw the Americommando placed in charge of a Suicide Squad mission to Apokalips during the Earth's battle with Imperiex (a mission that also involved the New Enforcers of Justice).

POWERS & WEAPONS

Due to secret military experiments, allegedly involving Project: Cadmus, the Americommando possessed superhuman strength and endurance. To maintain his superhuman physical levels, however, Americommando must be regularly subjected to "booster shots" based on the original experiments that gave him his powers of they will fade; though granted that prior to these experiments he was a soldier in near-peak human physical condition the loss of those powers would not render him particularly ineffective.

As Americommando the hero is equipped with a specially-designed suit of armor that provides extensive protection against offensive attacks. The suit packs offensive capabilities as well with built-in rocket launchers loaded with a mix of armor piercing, explosive, and flare rockets. The suit can also provide a sealed environment with several hours of air supply.

In addition to his armor, Americommando also carries a specially-designed shield that in addition to its capability to block incoming attacks can, in Americommando's trained hands, actually reflect an attack back on the attacker. On missions where mobility is a factor Americommando heads into battle riding his high tech flying "Americycle".

Americommando is highly trained in armed and unarmed combat, is qualified to pilot most military land, sea, and aircraft, and is an accomplished military tactician.

SABRESTONE

PERSONAL DATA

HISTORY

Michael Stone was a decorated intelligence operative working for the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) under the codename "Sabre" when he was crippled during the inter-agency intelligence conflict known as the Janus Directive. Michael languished in the hospital for months, sinking into a near-suicidal depression. When government agents from Task Force X offered him a chance to return to serving his country, Michael jumped at the opportunity no matter what the risks involved.

Secretly supplied by OMEGA a covert government lab was able to rebuild Michael as a cyborg, turning him into a half-human, half-robot super soldier. With his enhanced cyborg body and an array of advanced weaponry Michael was placed into the Ameriforce team under the new codename of Sabrestone.

As Sabrestone, Michael served with Ameriforce for the duration of the team's existence where his cyborg body let him serve as a front line combatant and his experience and skills as an operative made him equally suitable for more black ops missions as well.

Sabrestone's activities since Ameriforce was disbanded, but given his dependence on the government to maintain his cybernetics he is likely still an active operative in some capacity.

POWERS & WEAPONS

Sabrestone's cyborg body gives him superhuman strength, reflexes, and endurance. With nearly his entire body rebuily or enhanced by the cybernetics Michael can run at high speeds and jump large distances. Sabrestone's senses have also been enhanced with a built-in tactical computer that helps him predict incoming threats so he can counter them.

On a mission Michael is equipped with an exosuit that provides additional armor for protection, and typically carries an array of specially designed "combat disks". These disks have a variety of functions; some are designed to be thrown as a weapon, guided with expert accuracy thanks to Saberstone's tactical computer and can deal a great deal of damage when propelled by his cyborg strength. Other disks act as explosive charges and can be thrown at a target or placed manually; the disks have magnetic and adhesive properties that ensure that they stay put once placed. Sabrestone also has adhesive disks containing surveillance equipment; disks that can emit tear gas, a smoke screen, or other aerosol; disks that act like stun grenades. It is likely that government technicians can provide Michael with a variety of other disks with capabilities depending on mission requirements.

Michael is a highly skilled covert operative with the infiltration, intelligence gathering, and combat skills that go along with that occupation. In addition to his technological equipment, Sabrestone has been known to carry more conventional weapons such as an automatic pistol, combat knife, and blunt instruments like batons and tonfas.
