HISTORY

In the year 2841 Time Travel technology was perfected to the point where rogue time travelers posed a very real threat to reality. In response the World Government created the Temporal Police Patrol. Specially trained agents were sent to time periods deemed most at risk to interference. Their mission was to assimilate themselves into the time period and prevent any interference in history by rogue time travelers.

During the First Heroic Age (the Twentieth Century) the Temporal Police Field Agents were assigned "super-hero" identities as their cover. These agents were known as Captain Future (based on sketchy historical records showing there had been a Captain Future in these time periods). Temporal Police Field Agents were selected based on numerous physical, intellectual, and psychological requirements. However, there was one instance where the requirements testing failed, with disastrous results. The Field Agent assigned to be the "Captain Future" for the mid- to late-20th Century turned out to be psychologically unstable. Using Temporal Police time travel technology he gathered a group of villains and warriors around him and set out on a path of chaos and conquest. The rogue agent began calling himself Futurion and his followers became known as the Time Terrors.

Futurion's first task was to return to 2845 AD and wipe out the Temporal Police Patrol. With the aid of his group of Time Terrors he then began systematically moving through history killing the Field Agents. Only one Agent survived the massacre, the Captain Future of the 1940s. This surviving agent, who took on the name Gideon, would become one of Futurion's most implacable foes.

Though his efforts at conquest would take Futurion to many different time periods, he was constantly drawn back to the heroic ages of the Twentieth and Twenty-First Centuries. Wary of confronting the powerful heroes of the Golden Age and the even greater assemblage of heroes from the Modern Age, Futurion and his Time Terrors would concentrate their efforts most often on the so-called Forgotten Age of heroes that fell between the latter two. Even then the heroes of that era inevitably managed to thwart Futurion's plans, often with the help of Gideon. Futurion's most frequent foes during this era were the heroes known as The Crusaders.

One of Futurion's few sorties into the Modern Heroic Age involved a quest for three powerful temporal artifacts. This effort brought he and his Time Terrors into conflict with the New Enforcers of Justice. The heroes thwarted Futurion's scheme with the help of Gideon though two of them, ArcAngel and Surge, were lost in the past thanks to Futurion's Chronal Cannon (both eventually made their way back to their proper time period).

Futurion would encounter the New Enforcers of Justice again a few years later. This time Futurion manipulated the Enforcers into a series of time-travel adventures, at the same time manipulating several of his own past selves. His complex plot was nothing short of an effort to gain the ability to rewrite reality itself. The Enforcers, with help from themselves from a divergent timeline (another result of Futurion's meddling), were able to stop Futurion's plan and sent him and his other selves into exile in the distant future. The mastermind Futurion battled his past selves, eventually defeating them. Through some as yet unknown means this master Futurion managed to absorb his multiple past selves, becoming the powerful time traveling entity called Aeon.

Aeon has abandoned his earlier goal of conquering the Earth and ruling over its myriad eras. He now seeks ways to rewrite history, to change the world into one where he rules supreme. The fate of the Time Terrors remains unknown.

POWERS & WEAPONS

As a Temporal Police agent, Futurion possessed the equipment that let him emulate the Captain Future hero. This consisted of an armored flight suit with helmet and sealed environment that was capable of flight and even limited teleportation. The suit could also project a powerful force field to grant the wearer even greater protection. For offensive weaponry Futurion carried the standard issue laser pistol used by the Captain Futures augmented by other futuristic weaponry, most notably his Chronal Cannon. Any opponent successfully struck by the Cannon would be sent hurtling randomly backwards through time. Futurion also possessed the Temporal Police Patrol Timeship, which he had further augmented and used as the main means of transporting himself and his Time Terrors during their efforts at conquest. The Timeship could fly in air or in space, even achieving limited faster-than-light speeds; and could of course travel backwards and forwards in time. The Timeship was armed with powerful energy cannons and possessed a protective force field. The Timeship was also equipped with a cloaking device that rendered it invisible.

Since assuming his current identity, Aeon has incorporated all of the functionality of the Timeship into the suit of advanced power armor he wears. He also keeps a myriad of advanced weapons hidden in pocket realities, weapons that he can summon at a moment's notice.

Thanks to the absorption of his past selves, Aeon has expanded his already exceptional intelligence. He can now think Four Dimensionally, which allows him to perceive events in non-linear order, which to the average person appears to let Aeon predict the future (in reality he is simultaneously observing multiple outcomes of the same events and acting according to what he percieves as the most likely one).

Futurion

THE TIME TERRORS

Over the years Futurion has recruited many individuals to serve as accomplices to his schemes. The membership of these so-called Time Terrors has varied over the years, but the three core members have always remained the same.

KARL VON SCHREK

HISTORY

Karl von Schrek was a Nazi officer crippled by a Partisan grenade in 1938. Nazi scientists rebuilt him using early cybernetic techniques (similar to but not quite as sophisticated as Commander Steel). Later, after the start of the War, Schrek began openly questioning some of his government's policies. He was saved from being assassinated by his own government by Futurion. Bitter at being betrayed by his country Schrek gladly joined the Time Terrors. Futurion has replaced Schrek's crude 1940's robotic parts with advanced 29th century cybernetics.

POWERS & WEAPONS

Parts of the von Schrek's body have been replaced with futuristic cybernetics. These cybernetics give him superhuman strength and resistance to injury as well as the ability to run at high speeds and jump much farther than even an Olympic level athlete. His senses of sight and hearing have also been augmented, granting him the ability to see and hear across long distances. Schrek has also been observed to have a variety of weapons and equipment built into his cybernetics, though these appear to be modular modifications that he changes depending on the perceived needs of whatever mission Futurion has sent the Terrors on. Schrek is also equipped with a 29th Century energy pistol that he carries as a regular sidearm.

HARGON THE BERSERKER

HISTORY

Hargon was a fierce Viking warrior in the 9th century A.D. Crippled in battle, Hargon feared he would die what the Norsemen called the "Straw Death", i.e. waste away instead of dying in combat, and thus would not go to Valhalla. Futurion healed Hargon and enhanced the Viking's already impressive physique with chemical engineering in exchange for Hargon's loyalty.

POWERS & WEAPONS

The Berserker has been given an advanced piece of technology that can transform itself into any melee weapon its wielder can conceive of. Though Hargon prefers to wield the weapon in the form of a massive battle axe, he has been seen to also use it as a two-handed sword and a massive warhammer. Like the other Terrors, Hargon is also equipped with a 29th Century energy pistol, but he rarely makes use of it, preferring his axe or another melee weapon in combat.

JOHANN THE TORTURER

HISTORY

Johann was a minor German nobleman in the 15th century. When his family fell out of favor with the Holy Roman Emperor, Johann became a mercenary. He fought in several wars against the Turks and in the Balkans. Over the years Johann became quite adept at interrogation techniques and the ability to cause pain in general earning him the moniker "The Torturer". Johann was saved from execution by Futurion and has been given the opportunity to ply his trade across time and space.

POWERS & WEAPONS

Futurion has equipped the Torturer with a pair of gloves equipped with advanced technology. The gloves act as a portable torture chamber allowing Johann to probe a target's mind for information, inflict brutal psychic damage to an opponent, or to drain a victim's mind or even their very life force. Johann has also been known to carry a variety of advanced technological items on his person, whatever he feels might come in handy for a particular situation.
